Chicago DEFS Company
DEFS - Plaster Solutions provide a variety of DEFS Systems to fit your specific budget ramifications.
DEFS (Direct-Applied Exterior Finish System) is also commonly referred to as Cement Board Stucco, DAFS, TAFS, Exterior Finish System, or EFS.
DEFS is an exterior cladding system applied directly over sheathing or masonry substrates. DEFS provides a durable hard coat that is more durable than EIFS but does not provide any insulation value. Like EIFS or Stucco, DEFS is a water-resistant barrier system with aesthetic appeal, dirt resistance, impact resistance, and durability.
DEFS Application - DEFS can be applied over sheathing such as cement board and glass-mat gypsum board, or masonry substrates such as CMU, brick, or concrete. Typically a DEFS system consists of a basecoat, mesh, and finish coat.

DEFS Common Misconceptions
1. DEFS Systems cannot be water-managed or cannot provide drainage. DEFS Systems do have drainable capabilities and options when applied with an air/moisture barrier installed behind the substrate on which the DEFS system is applied.
